Hello World

Hi, my name is Jason and I am a galoot. Welcome to my blog. I have recently fallen down the rebate hole (see what I did there) of hand tool woodworking and have subsequently been brain washed by the likes of St. Roy and Mr. Schwarz. As a result I now feel the urge to press my love for all things muscle powered onto all of the other internet nomads who may unknowingly stumble upon my little blog.

That's Me!

I still enjoy being a wood butcher, but I have a growing guilt about senselessly sacrificing electrons. Because of my...enlightenment?...I set up this blog to chronicle my erratic attempts to learn the true art forms of joinery, cabinetry and furnitur...y.

So for my first blog I figured I could tell you a little about myself. I am currently (2013 AD) 26 years old and live with my wife and dog in a small town an hour north of Boston, MA. As a result I have been surrounded by old colonial charm and a wonderful history of hand tool use and craftsmanship which I am excited to explore as I delve deeper into this craft.

I am a carpenter by trade so I am no stranger to the use and abuse that power tools play in this day and age. Although I don't think my employer would appreciate a switch to hand tools on the job, I feel that learning certain hand skills can only help my efficiency with building and cabinet work. I have a small 8 x 8 shed which is in the process of receiving an addition (more to come on that subject) to hold all those pesky lawn tools that I currently share my workspace with. I am hoping that setting up a dedicated, albeit small, workshop will help me better focus my efforts to sustain a power free work flow.

A Picture with my future "Workshop"

So if you like what you have read so far, start following my blog, tell all your friends, shout my name from the roof tops and alert the authorities because from this point forward I promise that I will make outrageous statements, revere historical sentiments while simultaneously ignoring them, and loose focus on most topics halfway through. I hope you enjoy, and feel free to sound off in the comments section to let me know what I am doing right, but more importantly what I am doing wrong.

Auf Wiedersehen
